After a 2 years break due to the Global pandemic situation caused by COVID 19, the world’s largest project cargo and breakbulk event opened its doors in Rotterdam, the city often called Europe’s Maritime capital.

Over a period of three days, from the 17^th to the 19^th of May 2022, the breakbulk Europe event hosted some of the biggest names in the industry at the Rotterdam Ahoy conference center. From exhibitors to sponsors you could count cargo owners, ocean carriers, freight forwarders, ports and terminals, oil and gas companies, heavy haulers, equipment companies and many more that are involved in this specialized industry.

As a player in the project cargo and breakbulk industry, Portside also participated in the event, represented by Owner and Group Managing Director Mr. Bas De Vaal  from the Netherlands and Ms. Betina Gbadago, MD Togo. The main objective of Portside was to take advantage of the opportunity of everyone being there to meet in person with existing clients/partners, as well as create new bonds with other key industry players after such a long era of virtual meetings. All this with the view to serve our market better.

With 9045 attendees, 545 exhibitors and 4067 companies present at the event, Portside didn’t miss any networking opportunity. Over 2 days, 10km walked between booths in the Rotterdam Ahoy center and more than 100 new connections made – some  with whom we are already planning projects – we can confidently say we saw all the people we could have wished to meet.

Breakbulk Europe 2022 was worth visiting for Portside. We now have partners in locations we did not initially think of, giving us more coverage to address your needs better. We also had time to talk to many of our existing clients and discussed not only the things that are going well but also, those that need improvement.  It was again an honor to be invited by our longtime principals Breadbox and NMT which expressed their renewed trust is us.

We would like to thank the Port of Rotterdam which offered us a really nice and healthy breakfast at their booth on the last day. It was much needed after all the energy spent.
